Each year from middle autumn to early winter, Shichuan pear garden in Gaolan county displays a scenic beauty of bright colorful leaves of pear trees against green grass. The garden is located in Shichuan, an old town, some 20 kilometers to the northeast of Lanzhou, where the Yellow River runs through. The town abounds with melons and fruits, thus enjoying a reputation of being “the lush southern-type field” near the Great Wall. The mother river turns its head towards north from here, leaving over rich and fertile land to the local people. Though it has green mountains and clear waters, the “Land of Pear Blossoms”, the largest pear garden in China , remains the most splendid and enchanting scenery locally.
