Lanzhou plans to shake off poverty this year

The city of Lanzhou plans to shake off poverty this year and the life in rural areas is expected to reach well-off level by 2020, according to a conference held by the Lanzhou Municipal Government on February 28.

The city will expand the planting areas of summer vegetables in plateaus, lilies and Chinese medicine and explore establishing a rose production protection area in 2018. Tourism demonstration towns and villages will be developed and e-commerce service centers at all levels will also be stepped up to cover all villages by 2020.

In 2017, a total of 7,271 people shook off poverty in Lanzhou and the poverty rate was decreased to 2.7 percent. The disposable income per capita among peasants in Lanzhou reached 11,305 yuan.
