The tertiary industry in the city of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, expanded with an annual average growth rate of 9.75 percent from 2015 to 2017, according to a report released by Lanzhou Municipal Statistics Bureau on March 5.
The added value of the tertiary industry in Lanzhou totaled 158.03 billion, 125.71 billion and 141.38 billion yuan in 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively. The tertiary industry has become the main economic driver since 2015 in Lanzhou through integrated industrial development and the upgrading of traditional industries. In 2016, a total of 1.17 million job opportunities were created in the tertiary industry, 29,500 more than that of 2015. In 2017, the tertiary industry completed investment totaling 113.3 billion yuan, accounting for 86.13 percent of the fixed assets investment in Lanzhou, the report said.
