Being environmentally friendly is the prerequisite for enterprises to launch projects in the Lanzhou New Area, according to its spokesman on November 25. Enterprises also plant trees in the area when they conduct construction to meet the requirements set by the administration committee.

Wang Anxiang, general director in charge of petrochemical projects in the new area, introduced that planting trees is one of the prerequisites for enterprises to launch their project in the area and many enterprises conduct construction work and plant trees at the same time. An ecological construction management department was specifically established last year to ensure the implementation of greenery coverage conducted by enterprises in the new area.

“Good ecological environment contributes to good investment environment,” said Guo Zhiqiang, general director of the specific department. Enterprises have planted trees totaling at some 3667 hectares over the past two years, he said. Preferential policies were also issued to encourage enterprises to plant trees across the barren hills. Currently, more than 20 enterprises have agreed to take part in the ecological amelioration career in the area, Guo added.
