Lanzhou is a zonary basin running along the Yellow River to the northeast of Tibetan Plateau.

Lanzhou, situated at an altitude of 1,520 meters above sea level, is a zonary basin running along the Yellow River to the northeast of Tibetan Plateau.

Engulfed by mountains on both the southern and northern sides of the city, Lanzhou is a belt region running about 60 kilometers from east to west, and 2 to 10 kilometers from north to south. The altitude difference between the area’s southern and northern mountains is 600 meters. The surrounding mountains include the Qilian Range, Mount Pingliang and Mount Kongtong.

Covering an area of 13,100 square kilometers, the city of Lanzhou is one of the top 10 summer resorts in China, featuring cool weather and beautiful sceneries.
