Li Xiuping, news hostess of simplicity
Born on Feb. 16, 1963, in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, Li Xiuping is a prime-time news hostess at China Central Television (CCTV).Upon her graduation from Communication University of China in Beijing in 1987, she returned to Lanzhou to work as a hostess at the local TV Station. Two years later, she took an internship at CCTV, became a full-time employee and was promoted to the anchorwoman of its prime-time news in a few months.
Known for her simple language and amicable manners, she was awarded as excellent news hostess in 2005, 17 years after her first day at CCTV.
“I was lucky. I still remember my first day at CCTV news –my clothes, my hairstyle. It was just like yesterday,” she said.
