The State Council approved the establishment of Lanzhou New Area Bonded Area on July 15, according to a news briefing held by the Information Office of the Gansu Provincial Government on August 7.
With a planned area of 2.86 square kilometers, the area is intended to be a center of bonded processing services, warehousing, logistics, port operation services and other comprehensive services. It is expected to broaden the range of economic expansion in the province.
Located to the east of Zhongchuan International Airport, the bonded area’s location is convenient for aviation, rail transport and road transportation systems. It marks a great step forward in the process of Western China’s development and will help promote the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt, said Yang Zhiwu, the head of the Commercial Affairs Department of Gansu Province.
The bonded area includes sectors for comprehensive services, customs inspection, port operation, administration, business, residences and so on, said Yu Jingdong, the vice-mayor of Lanzhou City. A total of 600 million yuan has already been invested on infrastructure construction and the general design plan, and over 30 projects with an expected total investment of 7 billion yuan are under negotiation, according to the news conference.
