The Lanzhou-Xinjiang passenger line
The Lanzhou-Xinjiang passenger line will be put into service by the end of this year, serving as the first line dedicated solely to passenger transport for Lanzhou citizens. This line is 1776 kilometers long, traversing the provinces of Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. It is also the longest high-speed railway line built in a single stage in the world, ending the lack of high-speed rail in Gansu Province and optimizing the local railway networks' efficiency and carrying capacity. Passengers on the new line will be able to travel from Lanzhou to Zhangye, Jiayuguan and Jiuquan within five hours, whereas the same trip previously took 9 hours. Also, travel time by train from Lanzhou to Urumqi will be shortened to 9 hours. After the Lanzhou-Xinjiang passenger line starts its joint-test on Sept. 10, the first Lanzhou high-speed train will also go through road tests on the rail line.
The Lanzhou train maintenance center
The first Lanzhou high-speed train, a CRH5A type bullet train safely arrived at Lanzhou Railway Station at 5:40 a.m. on Sep. 19. Since the Lanzhou motor train maintenance center is still in the final stage of its five-year construction process, the motor train unit will go to Xining after a short stay at the Lanzhou Railway Station (the other maintenance center in use is located in Urumqi).
Introduction: The Lanzhou high-speed train maintenance center is 33 meters long covers an area of 17420 square meters. When the center comes into service, it will be able to inspect and repair four trains at the same time.
