Once as a region with farmland interspersed with wasteland, Lanzhou New Area turned into a city rapidly in the past decade. Now, this young city is continuing its development in many projects.

The construction of comprehensive bonded zone started and the first stage is expected to finish in 2015. The second stage is planned to complete in the year 2019.

Six projects have been introduced so far and negotiation with another 50 enterprises is ongoing. Meanwhile, the construction of most projects in the industrial park has finished and they started operation. Driven by the development of real estates, the tertiary industry in the new area is thriving by the increasing population. Other basic facilities, such as roads and substations, have been built to meet the needs of people's daily life.

Despite the supporting facilities, the environment improvement is also an emphasis in the new area in order to cope with the harsh climate and natural conditions. By the end of 2014, afforestation will reach 92km2, including 22km2 of this year.
