The annual growth rate of e-commerce trade volume in Lanzhou reached 61 percent in 2014, according to a themed conference on April 14. The e-commerce business will be further promoted in rural areas and communities this year.
In the first quarter of this year, the growth speed of online sales volume of Suning Commerce Group, a large-scale household appliance seller, reached 40.58 percent in Lanzhou and the online sale grew by 172.98 percent. It shows the remarkable achievement of e-commerce development in Lanzhou last year, said Yu Jingdong, the vice mayor of Lanzhou.
A total of 360 more e-commerce enterprises were newly fostered in the city last year and the e-commerce volume reached 51.5 billion yuan, an increase of 61 percent compared with that of 2013, said Duan Yingcun, the director of Lanzhou Commercial Bureau. He added that the e-commerce business in rural areas has great potential and the city will step up efforts to establish the rural system this year. Multiple forms like renowned e-commerce websites, we-chat and micro-blog, can be employed to promote the agricultural products sales in Lanzhou, he stressed.
