The 2015 Lanzhou Rose Festival kicked off at Kushui Town in Yongdeng County, Lanzhou City, on May 18. Thousands of peasants took part in the celebration of the festival through various art performances.

The event will last for months to October. A series of activities, including mountain climbing, roses plucking, a rose industry summit and a paintings and calligraphy exhibition, will be held in the coming months.

Rose planting at Kushui town has a history of over 200 years. Over the past few years, the outputs of products like fresh flower, dried buds and rose essential oil have kept increasing at the town. The rose production has infiltrated into many industries like medicine, cosmetics, beverage and many others in Yongdeng County.
