The Lanzhou New Area supported innovation and entrepreneurship through training and issuing discount loans, which totaled 8,110,000 yuan, in 2015. It created 1,611 new job opportunities and recruited 251 college graduates last year.

Zhang Baibin, a peasant living at Qinchuan Town in Lanzhou New Area, established Jinqiao Food Company Ltd. in 2013. “The government granted 200,000 yuan discount loans for us last year, which helped us survive,” he said.

The new area also held training courses and aided 70 trainees to establish businesses. At the same time, 490 people living in poverty-stricken areas received career training in the new area.
