The Xixia District in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, will step up the tourism industry throughout the whole district to ensure that beautiful scenery can be seen everywhere within three years, according to a themed conference on April 5.

It aims to become a National All-region Tourism Demonstration Area featuring ecological and cultural experience, leisure, sports and tourism in three years. The number of tourists received in the district is expected to surpass 6 million by 2018.

According to the plan, tourism will serve as the leading industry in the district and establish Helan Mountain Cliff Painting Prehistory Experience Center, Helan Mountain Outdoor Sports Center, Screen Culture and Innovation Center and Wine Leisure and Xixia Culture Tourism Destination in the next three years.

The added value of tourism is expected to account for over 15 percent of local GDP and the tourism revenue plans to reach 10 percent up of local GDP by 2018, the plan said.
