The Xigu District in Lanzhou City has stepped up the logistics industry over the past years. Along with the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Lanzhou International Port Area serves as an important platform for opening-up in western China.

Occupying a total area of 200 hectares, the port area has now completed the projects of the Lanzhou Railway Container Center and the Lanzhou Dongchuan Railway Freight Transport Center with a total investment of 5.8 billion yuan. Its designed annual throughput volume is 30.5 million tons.

The Lanzhou Train, the first South Asia highway-railway combined transport freight train, was launched on May 11 this year and it has realized normalized operation since Nov. 31. The freight throughput volume of the port area is expected to reach 20.5 tons by 2020.
