High-end equipment manufacturing blossoms in Lanzhou

The equipment manufacturing in Lanzhou, one of the city’s pillar industries, has developed into a competitive industrial system incorporating petro-chemical machinery, sectionalized machine manufacturing, electrical apparatus and instruments over the past decades.

In recent years, the western China development strategy and the establishment of Lanzhou New Area brought more opportunities to the industry and helped attract more flagship enterprises. Now the intelligent manufacturing began to take shape in the city.

Until the end of 2016, there are 68 equipment manufacturing enterprises across Lanzhou with an output value of 34 billion yuan. Lanzhou also made breakthroughs in aviation, marine engineering equipments, and intelligent manufacturing and the high-end equipment manufacturing accounted for 60 percent of the whole industry in Lanzhou.

With a planned area of 22 square kilometers, the Equipment Manufacturing Park of Lanzhou New Area has attracted 59 enterprises to build workshops and finished construction of 31 projects completing an investment of 30.3 billion yuan by the end of 2016. The gross industrial output value totaled over 10 billion yuan.

The park will undertake industrial transfer from the urban area to form a clustering effect and the sectors of new energy equipment and numerical control machine tools will create more development space, said Wei Lie’an, director of equipment manufacturing at Lanzhou Municipal Committee of Industry and Information Technology.

In the next five years, Lanzhou also plans to launch 64 projects with a total investment of 39.7 billion yuan and focus on fostering equipments in petroleum drill and exploitation, electrical machines and high pressure valves to build up renowned local brands.
