A "Belt and Road" Ecological Restoration Forum was held in Lanzhou New Area, Lanzhou City, on May 8. Over 70 NGO and paper pulp enterprise delegates from South Africa, France, UK, Japan, Portugal and Brazil attended the forum and discussed vegetation restoration and ecological protection in arid and semi-arid regions under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Niu Xiangdong, director of Lanzhou New Area Management Committee, expressed that the new area stuck to the ecology priority principle in the construction process by implementing afforestation projects, making rational layout of ecological space, enhancing urban landscape construction and establishing wind prevention and sand fixation ecological barrier. He added that the new area can learn from advanced experience of other countries through the forum, make full use of the Belt and Road Initiative, and build up a new area with ecological progress.

Delegates and experts also discussed the integration of urban planning, engineering construction and afforestation to realize balanced development of ecology and economy in Lanzhou New Area.
