The Qilihe Stadium, located in Qilihe District, Lanzhou City, will be reconstructed with a total investment of 540 million yuan, according to the Sport Administration of Gansu Province on September 22.
Built in 1957, the old stadium will be dismantled on October 1 this year and the new one is expected to complete construction by 2020.
Occupying a total area of 117,600 square meters, the old stadium has a track-and-field ground of 34,000 square meters, eight 400-meter running tracks, a football field and a grand stand that can accommodate 35,000 spectators.
It is reported that the new stadium will be open to the public and become a new urban landmark after its completion.
