The city of Lanzhou in Gansu Province has expanded cultural tourism market by innovating business models and enhancing cooperation with other cities over the past years. During the just ended eight-day national holiday in October, the city of Lanzhou received 3.26 tourists with the tourism revenue totaling 2.65 billion yuan, up by 17.91 percent and 21.02 percent year on year respectively, according to Lanzhou Culture and Tourism Bureau.
Being the capital of Gansu Province, Lanzhou City cooperated with Lanzhou Railways Bureau and launched tourism trains connecting itself with Wuwei, Zhangye, Baiyin, Jiayuguan, Tianshui and some other cities in the province, and also Zhongwei City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Shanghai and so on, to promote the Silk Road culture and western China sceneries. It also signed contracts with Air China to open international routes from Lanzhou to Frankfurt, Nagoya and Kuala Lumpur.
Xining City in Qinghai Province, Zhangjiajie City in Hunan Province, Hanzhong City in Shaanxi Province and some other 14 tourism cities from all across China held promotional and exchange activities in Lanzhou. It also signed strategic cooperation agreements with Fuzhou, Xiamen, Zhangzhou and many other cities along the maritime Silk Road. In addition, Lanzhou held promotional activities in Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and some other cities, countries and regions around the world.
