A total of 72 maker spaces have been established until now in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, incubating some 3,000 start-ups and creating 40,000 job opportunities, according to Lanzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau on November 14.
Under the principle of government guidance, social participation and market operation, the city of Lanzhou has given full play to the competitiveness of industrial parks, the human resources market, industry associations, training institutions and enterprises and made use of idle workshops and other facilities to establish and develop maker spaces over the past few years.
Through cooperation between the government, enterprises and universities, an operational mechanism featuring fiscal subsidies, enterprises financing and social donation has been established among the maker spaces in Lanzhou.
