Gansu Bamboo and Wooden Slips Museum now officially settled on Matan Cultural Island in Qilihe District of Lanzhou City.

The museum's new home, with a total investment of 450 million yuan, offers a good place for preservation, storage and display of more than 40,000 precious bamboo slips and over 10,000 relevant cultural relics owned by Gansu.

Up to 2013, more than 60,000 bamboo slips from the Han Dynasty (BC 206-AD 220) had been unearthed in the province, accounting for 82 percent of the national total.

The bamboo slips, which include imperial edicts, decrees, regulations, government documents and letters, are invaluable materials for research on history of the Han Dynasty.

The museum, the only provincial-level bamboo slip museum in China, was established in 2012, but didn’t have an independent site until now.
