Lanzhou Beef Noodles explore global markets

There are over 30,000 Lanzhou beef noodle stores across China with an employment of 300,000 people and the annual turnover has exceeded 40 billion yuan, according to Lanzhou Municipal Commercial Affairs Bureau on January 15.

The number of stores in Lanzhou City has totaled 1,200 with an employment of 10,000 people and the annual turnover has reached 1.5 billion yuan, said Zhang Haiming, director of the Commercial Service Department of the bureau.

Over the past few years, Dongfanggong, Mazilu and several renowned Lanzhou beef noodle brands have explored overseas markets and opened about 30 stores in U.S., Canada, France, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand, Zhang added. Several technical schools in Lanzhou nurtured over 10,000 shop managers and chefs of Lanzhou beef noodle for stores both home and abroad every year, Zhang said.

The Lanzhou Municipal Commercial Affairs Bureau has encouraged the beef noodles brands to develop chain stores and go global by releasing preferential policies, according to Zhang.
