Lanzhou to improve tap water coverage rate in rural areas

The city of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, will invest 247 million yuan in providing safe drinking water for 194,200 people to ensure the tap water coverage rate in rural areas reach 90 percent this year, according to a poverty alleviation conference held in Yuzhong County, Lanzhou City, on March 7.

The project of rural safe drinking water in Lanzhou started in 2005 and has completed a total investment of 73.34 million yuan. Some 920,800 rural people were supplied with safe drinking water through the project and the tap water coverage rate in rural areas has reached 85 percent until now.
