The Lanzhou Municipal Museum will reopen to the public within this year after renovation, according to a conference held in Lanzhou on April 2.
Established in 1984, the museum with a collection of 12,659 cultural relics was open to the public for free in 2008. The number of visitors per year once reached over 200,000. A renovation project started in July of 2013 and is expected to be completed this year.
Various local cultural themed exhibitions are planned to be held and the digitalization process will be accelerated at the museum, according to the conference. “Every cultural relic has a precious story and we can dig out the story and design influential and distinctive exhibitions,” said Dong Yali, curator of the museum.
