The city of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, aims to become a renowned tourist city along the Silk Road Economic Belt, according to a Lanzhou Tourism Working Conference on August 16.

Equal emphasis should be laid upon scenic spots and rural tourism development, said Chen Weizhong, director of the Lanzhou Tourism Development Committee. Lanzhou also needs to create a favorable business environment to attract more tourism investment, he added.

Zhang Weiwen, mayor of Lanzhou, emphasized that tourism should become a pillar industry in high-quality urban development in Lanzhou. It is important to innovate in tourism promotion and improve the environment to make Lanzhou a renowned tourist city along the Silk Road Economic Belt, he noted.
