The Chengguan District in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, has stepped up the tourism industry over the past two years.

There are now nine A-level national scenic spots, 32 star-rated hotels and 500 travel agencies in the district, according to a tourism development conference held on August 29.

It received 37.05 million tourists in 2017 with the tourism revenue totaling 34 billion yuan, up by 22.8 percent and 25.1 percent respectively year on year.

It plans to promote integrated development of culture, sports and tourism industries and make cultural tourism a pillar industry by 2020. The industry is expected to create over 100,000 job opportunities by then, according to the conference.
